List of art materials for the workshop:

1. Watercolorpaper:Archescold-pressed300gsmpaperishighlyrecommendedforbest results. You can get this paper on Amazon in case it is not available in your local art supply stores. Please know that the results of watercolor painting will depend on the paper type. The participants are therefore requested to carefully select their paper type and not compromise with the paper quality and thickness. Please do not use paper with thickness less than 140 pound.

2. Watercolorpaints:PaintsmustbeartistsgradepreferablyfromDanielSmith,Winsor& Newton, Schmincke, Holbein, M.Graham, Sillinear, Van Gogh, Mission Gold, or QOR. Tubes are more suitable than pans for this workshop because taking out juicy paints from rubes for mixing a lot of paints for backgrounds and washes is much easier. However, if you already have paints in pans for the suggested colors then you may not purchase paints in tubes specifically for this workshop.

Please note: Camlin brand (for India) and Winsor & Newton Cotman must not be used for this workshop. White Night Artists watercolors is not recommended. If the brand you are using is not in this list then study about your brand on Google. If you don’t find great reviews, then stop using that brand. Stick to the best brand of colors only if you really care for good results.

3. Colors:   A list of suggested colors for the painting will be shared with the participants by email.

Please note: You need not have all the  mentioned colors for participating in this workshop. Also, the colors used by each artist depends on his/her personal preferences. The above list of colors are suggested for best results.

But make sure you are using best quality artists grade paints only.

1. Paintbrushes: #1, #6 round brushes, 2” or 1.5” hake brush. Make sure that the brush you are using is of good quality and the tip of the round brushes come to a single point when wet.

2. Artist’s Masking Tape

3. Masking fluid

4. Pencil or 0.5mm mechanical pencil, eraser, paper towels, white plastic

palette, a big plastic jar for water, a small jar of water, hair drier.

5. Notebook and pen to take down notes.

Please note: The participants will receive the following on or before 15th November to prepare for the workshop:

1. Instructions to prepare for the workshop.

2. Reference image for the workshop.

3. Line drawing of the reference image for tracing purpose.

4. Instructions for how to trace the line drawing on the watercolor paper.

The participant is suggested to get the workshop materials ready by 25th October.
